Grenada Bound

The time has finally come – we leave for sunny Grenada tomorrow morning! In preparation for our trip, we’ve met as individual teams and as a collective group to discuss general logistics and specific duties relating to our project. Alongside Ian Lang, I will be working with the Grenada Planned Parenthood Association on a project assessing unsafe reproductive health practices among women in Grenada. As this project is in its early stages, Ian and I will focus on the anthropological aspect, which involves conversing with local Grenadians at the market to understand opinions about reproductive health. The goal is to create a needs assessment instrument from this research. We will definitely need to step out of our comfort zone through this form of qualitative interviewing, but I know it will be an incredible learning experience.

I anticipate that the week will fly by, so I plan to have an open mind, open ears, and to soak up as much of the culture (and as much of the sun) as I can!
